Tejada, Perdomo, Address Hispanic Owned Small Businesses in Manassas

Walter Tejada, newly appointed Board Member of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) and Carlos Perdomo, Chairman of DC Metro Hispanic Contractors Association (DCMHCA) and owner of Keystone Plus Construction will address a group of construction company owners at VFW Post 7589 in Manassas, Saturday, March 4th at 9:30 am. The purpose of the workshop is to support the development of small, Hispanic, minority and immigrant owned construction and commercial contracting companies in Northern Virginia and optimize their opportunities for growth and success.

Mr. Tejada will speak to the existing conditions in Northern Virginia for small businesses and what opportunities there are for them. The MWAA is embarking on a major reform to the airport over the next 3-5 years which will require a great many sub-contractors and construction related professionals and companies. Walter is an outstanding, veteran leader in N. Va. with a long and distinguished record of support for economic development and diversity during his stint on the Arlington County Board where he served for a time as its Chairman.
Mr. Perdomo will share his experiences in building a successful construction firm in the District of Columbia. He will be joined by new DCMHCA Member Jorge Ramos, CEO of SG Inc., a company based in Manassas that installs major industrial solar panel installations the world over. These two successful Hispanic business owners will highlight their experiences in the hope of inspiring and mentoring the businesses who attend the workshop. DCMHCA will also encourage attendees to join the business guild and participate in the benefits the association offers.
Also presenting on March 4th is Jumi Silva, Company Controller for Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners, a progressive, highly successful developer based in the District. Ms. Silva will speak about the importance of a well structured balance sheet, maintaining solid financial records and in general what it takes to manage the financials of a company that deals in development, construction or commercial contracting.
This workshop is supported by Turner Construction Co. who are partnering with DCMHCA to provide the skills and mentoring needed to grow our small businesses and provide them the opportunity to tackle larger more complex projects. This is just one part of the collaboration between Turner and DC Metro Hispanic Contractors Assoc.
This event is being organized by Chata Bernal, owner of Better Business Consulting and now head of the Northern Virginia Chapter of DCMHCA. This is the second workshop in Manassas Ms. Bernal has worked on for the association.
