Present & Future Leadership of Metro DC Hispanic Contractors Association
- Written by Jose Sueiro
Proud to announce the leadership succession at one of the region's premier business guilds; Metro DC Hispanic Contractors Assoc. (MDCHCA).
Based in Washington DC, and currently boasting a membership network of 216 minority, Hispanic and immigrant owned construction and construction related enterprises, MDCHCA has been led these past 5 years by Chairman of the Board, Carlos Perdomo, owner and CEO of Keystone Plus Construction. Mr. Perdomo, whose father Eduardo began the organization in the early 1980s, took control of the organization when there were less than 10 members and the Association had very little influence with either local governments or private industry. Today, Hispanic owned construction and commercial contracting firms are among the most dynamic, fastest growing and most influential sectors of the construction industry. A feat that has been aided by our Association under the leadership of Mr. Perdomo.
On January 26th, 2021, the 10 members of the Hispanic Contractors Board unanimously selected Pedro Alfonso, owner and CEO of Dynamic Concepts Inc., as the new Chairman of the Board for 2021 to succeed Perdomo.
For the past 35 years, Mr. Alfonso, of Afro-Cuban heritage and a native of Tampa Bay, Florida, has been a revered construction industry pioneer in the District, leading one of the most successful and productive companies on the scene today. DCI is a home grown business started from scratch and becoming a unique, experienced and well run CBE (Certified Business Enterprise) in Washington DC. DCI specializes in utility work and 'horizontal' construction with important construction contracts with PEPCO, Washington Gas, Verizon, DC Water, DGS & DOES among others.
Pedro has been a pioneering business owner and community leader for 35 years and a close confidant of Mayors, City Councilpersons and business leaders dating back to the late 80's. His wisdom, savvy and professional relationships promise to boost the MDCHCA to greater heights and build an even larger, more extensive Guild. Mr. Alfonso has led a national small business organization with over 70 thousand members and is in a unique position to take the Hispanic Contractors Association to new heights on a local and national level.
Carlos Perdomo will continue as a Director on the Board, Chairing the newly created and all important Corporate Advisory Council (CAC). Mr. Alfonso has chosen Board member Joshua Lopez as Chair Pro-Temp and the Executive Committee of the Board is composed of President, Edwin Villegas, owner & CEO of Winmar Construction, Vice President, Otto Madrid, owner & CEO of JPN Masonry and Secretary/Treasurer, Jessica Elias of Gilbane Construction.
